Which Essential Oil is Best for Sleep? (try this recipe tonight)

Frankincense is one of the best essential oils for sleep that I know!

It's very effective at helping people feel relaxed and calming down cycles of "overthinking" that can keep many people lying awake and staring at their ceilings all night. (So frustrating!)

Roman Chamomile blends well with Frankincense and might be one of the best essential oil sleep blends I've used!

They are both so calming for the nervous system and ease cycles of stress and circuitous thoughts. They soothe that restless sense of when you're lying in bed, trying to sleep, but still feel a little too "high strung" to relax.

Here's one of my favorite ways to use these essential oils for sleep.

Drift To Sleep Bath Salt

  • 1 oz (28 g) Pink Himalayan salt

  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) Castile soap

  • 4 drops Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii)

  • 1 drop Roman Chamomile essential oil (Chamaemelum nobile)

Make this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass jar.

Put the pink salt into the jar. (You can use any salt you like for this. I love the pink salt because of all its nutrients)

Add essential oils to the Castile soap, then stir gently into the salt with a glass stirring rod or a stainless steel spoon handle to distribute evenly through the salt.

Note: Sometimes, using Castile soap with salts can harden the salt. If you want to leave the soap out of the bath salt, use a carrier oil like jojoba instead. It works great!

You can use the entire jar in one bath.

The warm water will help you relax, releasing muscle tension. And the essential oils for sleep in this bath salt help ease tension even more.

Not everybody has a bathtub or likes to take baths.

In that case, you can still use this bath salt! Just pour yourself a warm, comforting foot bath and add the entire jar of bath salt.
