3 of the Best Essential Oils to Relieve Stress Headaches + How to Use Them Safely

If you have a stress headache right now, I'll bet you don't want to be looking at your screen too much.

So let's get right to the good stuff!

I'm going to tell you one of the best ways to relieve stress headaches with essential oils.

I'll tell you about the oils, and give you a recipe for using them.

I've chosen 3 of my very favorite essential oils for calming stress headache pain. Based on research, and based on results that my students, graduates, and friends have shared with me, these essential oils are effective!

I explain more in this video!

These 3 essential oils are best to relieve stress headaches . . .

Frankincense has a big place in my heart for the way it helps relieve stress headaches.

I have turned to this friend many times, and it always offers relief. Frankincense is excellent for calming inflammation and easing pain.

It also helps to center the mind and heart. So if you are feeling emotional or mental stress that's leading to headache pain, Frankincense is one of the best essential oils to soothe that.

Rosemary ct. camphor is a classic essential oil for headache pain.

Rosemary has been used to help clear the head for centuries, especially when we want to focus on projects and get things done. It helps calm circuitous thoughts and "stuck"mental energy. (Students in Ancient Greece used to wear the herb Rosemary when they studied!)

It also helps reduce inflammation, and encourages circulation throughout the head.

Eucalyptus essential oil is famous for the way it helps clear congestion and support breathing, but did you know it's also an excellent ally for pain relief?

I love it for headache pain, because its cooling touch helps to encourage circulation and bring down inflammation like magic!

And if your headache pain is due to sinus congestion or a cold, this is one of the best essential oils to include in your recipe.

Think of the way that Eucalyptus can seem to "dissolve"stuffiness from your nose, or to clear a tight chest—and imagine it doing the same for the throbbing pain in your head.

Let's use these 3 best essential oils for stress headaches in a recipe.

Headache Relieving Oil

Soothe headaches symptom and relieve stress.

Ingredients
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Trauma Oil

  • 4 drops Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii)

  • 6 drops Rosemary essential oil (Rosmarinus officinalis ct camphor)

  • 3 drops Eucalyptus essential oil (Eucalyptus globulus)

Equipment
  • One 1 oz (30 ml) Amber Glass Bottle with Coned Cap

Directions
  • Pour the Trauma oil into the glass bottle.

  • Add the essential oils and tighten the cap.

  • Gently shake the bottle to combine.

Make this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle.

Combine the Trauma Oil and essential oil, and shake gently. That's all it takes!

What is Trauma Oil?

Trauma Oil is one of the BEST carriers to relieve stress headaches!

It's made of a natural carrier oil (like olive oil) that's infused with 3 therapeutic herbs: arnica, calendula, and St. John's wort.

Trauma Oil offers so much relief even when it's used all by itself.

Adding the essential oils means we are getting some of the best pain relief nature has to offer.

I like to use this blend on the back of my neck and my shoulders. So much of headache pain, especially pain from stress headaches, comes from tension and inflammation in the muscles of the neck, shoulders, and scalp. So using this pain relief oil on those areas helps a lot. (Plus, I don't like to use essential oils too close to my eyes.)

Reach for this blend when you first notice a stress headache setting in. It is great to keep in your desk at work or in a bag so it's with you wherever you go.

And if you're a member of the "I get a stress headache around the same time everyday club"(NOT a fun club to be a part of!) then you are going to love this blend even more! You can start using it before the headache pain ever sets in, and hopefully prevent it altogether.

Another one of my best tips for relieving headache pain is to do some deep breathing.

Deep, nourishing breaths help your muscles to relax and let go of some of that tightness they've been holding for so many hours.

And what if you could add essential oils to every breath of deep, supportive air you take?

Here is a headache inhaler recipe that will really help you.

This recipe also includes Frankincense. Not to mention some very pain-relieving conifer and citrus oils that Frankincense loves hanging out with.

Try combining your headache inhaler and headache oil for even more support!
