Protect & repair kids' damaged skin with this essential oil recipe.

Children love to explore, and with exploration often comes a few knocks and scrapes.

That's why we've formulated this soothing essential oil spray that is perfect for comforting their bumps and bruises while promoting skin healing and resilience.

Packed with therapeutic essential oils, this recipe is a must-have for your natural first-aid kit. The base of aloe vera gel not only provides a cooling effect for instant relief, but it also nurtures the skin, aiding its restoration process.

Here's the recipe...

Lavender & Aloe Rescue Spray for Kids

  • 1 oz (30 ml) Lavender hydrosol (Lavandula angustifolia)

  • ½ oz (14 g) Aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis)

  • 2 ml Solubol (dispersant)

  • 4 drops Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii)

  • 3 drops Helichrysum essential oil (Helichrysum italicum)

  • 2 drops Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

Directions:

  1. Get your 2 oz (60 ml) PET plastic spray bottle ready. Remember, PET plastic is safe as it does not leach.

  2. Pour the aloe vera gel into your bottle.

  3. Add the Lavender hydrosol.

  4. Drop in the essential oils.

  5. Add the Solubol dispersant.

  6. Close the bottle and give it a good shake to blend all the ingredients together.

  7. Spray this concoction on children's minor injuries, such as scrapes, insect bites, and mild sunburns. If the skin is broken and bleeding, clean the area before applying this spray. If cleaning the area isn't immediately possible, this spray will help protect the skin until it can be properly cleaned.

A note on Solubol: Solubol acts as a dispersant, aiding in the blending of essential oils with water-based carriers like aloe vera gel and hydrosol. It ensures the oil and water ingredients remain mixed. Remember to give your bottle a shake before each use for optimal effect.

Storage: Keep the spray in the fridge. This will not only enhance its soothing effect on irritated skin but will also extend the shelf life of the aloe vera gel. As there's no preservative included in this recipe, we recommend making a fresh batch every few weeks.

This gentle yet effective blend will become your go-to solution for your kids' inevitable bumps and scrapes, keeping their playtime fun and worry-free!

Why this recipe works

I mentioned that along with the aloe vera gel, the essential oils in this blend are proven to help protect and repair damaged skin.

Here's how they do it!

Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii)

Frankincense is one of the most renowned skin care oils in the aromatherapy world.

It contains natural components (such as d-limonene) that are proven to calm inflammation, making Frankincense popular for urgent "rescue" blends.

It's also great for long-term use. Frankincense oil is common in daily skincare since it's been shown to have antioxidant properties.

Helichrysum essential oil (Helichrysum italicum)

Helichrysum is so good at repairing skin that it's also known as "everlasting" and "immortelle".

In addition to being popular for rescue blends, this "fountain of youth" oil is often used in luxury products for rejuvenating aged and damaged skin.

In fact, Helichrysum essential oil is so potent that I don't recommend using it on puncture wounds. It might work too quickly, and puncture wounds need to heal more slowly (from the inside out).

Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

If the essential oil world contains a "panacea" for skincare, Lavender might be it!

Lavender is universally soothing for a wide variety of skin issues and inflammation—from bites and stings to sunburns, bruises, to scrapes. Lavender can even calm muscle and joint inflammation.

One reason it's so effective is its high concentration of the natural component "linalool", which has been widely studied for its inflammation-calming benefits.

Use this blend for emotional rescue, too.

Kids can get anxious and upset when they're in pain.

Fortunately, the oils in your Lavender & Aloe Rescue Spray are excellent for creating feelings of safety and security.

If the child still can't calm down, you can use a blend that helps ease anxiety for little ones.

Give this one a try—it's called "Orange's Sweet Retreat Diffuser Blend".
