Ginger, belonging to the botanical family Zingiberaceae, is more than just a zesty spice to add to our dishes.
Distilled from its root, the essential oil of ginger carries within it centuries of traditional remedies and healing wisdom.
It is this very root that has been, for ages, revered and sought after as a remedy for digestion, nausea, and alleviating painful conditions. There's a certain warmth that ginger exudes, both in its flavor and its therapeutic effects.
This fiery and robust nature of ginger works wonders in invigorating our energy, making us feel more rooted and grounded. Traditional medicine has long recognized the power of ginger rhizomes in offering relief from pain and inflammation.
There's a kind of magic that happens when you turn to ginger – the warmth permeates, dissipates pain, and brings a comforting sensation to aching parts. Not just limited to its anti-inflammatory attributes, the topical application and inhalation of ginger essential oil have been found to be quite effective in alleviating nausea and vomiting. Thanks to its antispasmodic effects, ginger, and its distilled essence, play a vital role in supporting our digestive processes, ensuring our gut functions optimally and preventing unwanted issues like gas.
What makes ginger and its essential oil truly remarkable is their ability to counterbalance conditions caused by both internal and external moisture. Whether it's issues arising from internal moisture like diarrhea or excessive mucus, or those resulting from external damp conditions such as the aches one feels in wintry, damp settings, ginger stands as a beacon of warmth and relief. For those looking for a remedy that's both aromatic and effective, here's a favorite blend that aids digestion and dissipate feelings of nausea.
Ginger-Lemon Harmony: A Soothing Essential Oil Blend for Digestion & Relief

4 drops Peppermint essential oil (Mentha x piperita)
1 fl oz (30 ml) Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis)
Directions:
1. Pour jojoba oil into a 1 oz (30 ml) amber bottle.
2. Add the essential oils drop by drop.
3. Secure the cap and shake the bottle well to blend the oils.
4. To use, dispense a small amount onto your palm, and massage onto the belly in a gentle, clockwise motion.
But what if you're on-the-go and need a quick respite from a wave of nausea or sudden joint discomfort? This blend is equally beautiful when prepared as an inhaler. Simply follow the same essential oil proportions, excluding the jojoba oil.
