Jenny Wilson

Aromatherapy Certification Program graduate
📍 Virginia Water, UK🌱 Certified Aromatherapist

I continue to teach math and hope to teach aromatherapy to the students after school at some point.

Her story

How a daughter's illness led a math teacher to aromatherapy.

I grew up in Boise, Idaho, and will always fiercely state that I'm an Idahoan, but my love for Spanish took me overseas once I completed university. I was trying to speak Spanish while teaching math to high school students, but God had other ideas and first took me to Hong Kong, then the Philippines where I met my husband and my path changed. From there I went back to Hong Kong, Korea (where I had two wonderful kiddos), back to Hong Kong, and finally to Mexico for 7 years! I am now settled and living in the UK, but I return to my roots in Idaho every summer.

I have always been a teacher of some sort, whether it's math, Bible study, or giving simple classes in aromatherapy. I'm currently teaching at an American school in Thorpe, England, and loving it.

I got into Aromatherapy because my daughter was very ill and I was at my wit's end, ready to try anything. I started loving my oils, but was concerned about the advice on the internet (which I've since learned can be incredibly dangerous!). I joined the Aromahead course because I wanted to make sure I was safely advising friends about essential oils. Boy, did this journey take me down an expansive road!

My father is a doctor who only officially believes something works if the literature says it does, so to enter into new territory where I would use essential oils instead of conventional medicine was truly a step outside this mathematician's comfort zone.

I learned that I could quantify the effects of the oil via the chemistry or I could equally learn and trust that the oils worked without needing to know/understand the exact reason why. I say that, but I still want to know as much as I can about why things work, or the reason that the oil I pick is a good choice for the ailments on hand.

For now, I use my aromatherapy on my family, friends, and some students or teachers.

How she uses it now

Currently, I intend to use my aromatherapy knowledge to help the health of my family and friends.

My family has come to rely on the oils and reach as soon as something arises, which is such a blessing.

The best parts of learning here

What made the difference, in Jenny’s words.

Jenny came to aromatherapy as a skeptic's daughter looking for real answers. Here is what she found, in her own words.

Practical, not just theoretical

The course paired hard chemistry with the plant-based, hands-on side of using oils.

Aromahead made the learning practical and I loved both the factual side of how oils have been proven to work as well as the energetic side of how to use them based on plant parts.

Useful every day

The material moved straight from the course into her actual daily life.

I found the information practical in my daily life.
