Certified Aromatherapist → Certified Clinical

Two complete credentials, and what Clinical adds on top.

A Certified Aromatherapist is a complete professional, serving the healthy public from their own practice. A Certified Clinical Aromatherapist does everything they can, and more, working with vulnerable populations inside the medical system. Here's exactly how they compare.

Community access from Aromatherapy Specialist onward · hosted on Skool

The Aromahead Community

You walk this path in good company. Community access opens at Aromatherapy Specialist and carries you all the way forward. Inside, three sequential, gated cohorts move students through the journey together, each one a separate group that only those who continue join. At the end of every cohort, we invite you into the next pathway, so when you're ready for what comes next, that's where you choose to continue.

Cohort 1 · Specialist onward

Been there! Check that both phases are at temperature before you combine them. Mine has held perfectly ever since.

Conversations shown are representative of daily life inside the community; real member threads appear with permission.

Where the graded work lives: your case studies and research paper are completed and hosted inside each course: the Certification course and the Advanced Graduate Program. The community is for cohort connection, support, and accountability; the courses hold the deliverables.
How long will this take?

The credentials take a year or two. The first remedy takes half an hour.

You make your first blend in your first half hour and replace your first store-bought product within the week. The credentials arrive as milestones along a life you're already living differently. Everything is self-paced with lifetime access, and you never study alone: instructors and your cohort keep you moving. Here's the typical pace, and what you walk away with at every stage.

  1. Your first hour · free

    Day one

Create your free account and make your first blend within the hour. Real learning starts immediately, and everything you do counts.

Earn: your first blend + your first credit hours, counting from minute one
  2. Self-paced, start anytime

  3. 3–8 months Specialist cohort

    Aromatherapy Specialist

Move through the coursework with your cohort: safety, chemistry, blending, remedy craft.

    Earn: Essential Oil Specialist Certificate
  4. 8–12 months Certification cohort

    Aromatherapy Certification

Case studies, research paper, exam, done in community, with peer review and direct instructor mentorship.

Meets the education requirements for NAHA Level 2, Certified Professional Aromatherapist® (+ AIA Level 2)
  5. 12–24 months Clinical cohort (includes the supervised clinical year)

Clinical Aromatherapist · The Scholars Program

Advanced Graduate Program + Internal Usage: toxicology and vulnerable-population protocols, then your supervised clinical year with real clients, supported by the community, for the NAHA Clinical title.

Earn: Certified Clinical Aromatherapist, meets the education requirement for NAHA Level 3 + AIA Level 3 + IFPA Full Member

One to two years of guided study takes you through the education for all three credentials, including the supervised clinical year for the NAHA Clinical title. Lifetime access: go faster or slower, and you can stop at whichever credential matches your goal.

Why the cohort

Learning alongside others is what carries you all the way. The Aromahead Community is built so you complete what you start: a cohort moving together, quarterly milestones, live events, peer review, and Karen's team beside you every step. Students who begin with their cohort tend to go the whole distance.

A year or two from now, you could be the aromatherapist your friends, family, and the medical world turn to.

A note on where you stand

Aromahead's pathways are our own, and we tell you exactly where you stand.

Natural Living, Aromatherapy Specialist, Aromatherapy Certification, and the Clinical Aromatherapist pathway are Aromahead's own pathways, independent of NAHA, AIA, and IFPA. The credentials you reach prove how far you've come, and we always use "meets the education requirement for" language, so you know exactly which letters you hold at every pathway.

  • Deliverables earn the letters. Credits get you to the hour threshold; the case studies, paper, and exam earn the credential itself.
  • AIA Level 3 (the Clinical pathway) carries heavier deliverables: a larger case-study set and research paper, completed as part of the clinical work.
  • The NAHA Level 3 title also requires a 1-year supervised clinical practicum and professional insurance, beyond the coursework.
  • IFPA ties Full Member eligibility to the clinical hours plus the IFPA Level 3 A&P bridge and insurance, and bars internal-use coursework, so internal use is taught on the NAHA / US side only.
Where the path leads

Two graduates who walked it all the way.

The path leads into a practice. These are graduates who did the work, earned the letters, and built something with them.

Yasmine ElGhamrawy, Aromahead graduate and founder of Yatlina, London
"Knowing I can now back up my intuitive choices with scientific research has given me a whole new level of understanding — and confidence going ahead in my new chosen career."

Yasmine spent nearly twenty years in visual effects for film before deciding she wanted a career change. She chose Aromahead for its balance of science and energetics. Since graduating she founded Yatlina, an award-winning London botanical-products company, became the UK representative for the AIA, and sits on the board of the IFPA, the recognized credential opening doors she now walks through every day.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my case study experience. The feedback from my case study instructor was thorough and thoughtful — it really helped me integrate and retain everything I'd learned."

Robyn is a hematology-oncology nurse of twenty years and now a Holistic Health Specialist on the integrative care team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. When her team launched an aromatherapy program, she knew a top-ranked hospital would require serious education, so she chose the certification with mentored case studies, an exam, and a research paper. "It felt so personalized," she says. "That makes this program very unique."
