Her story

How Karen brought essential oils to reflexology.

I was certified as a reflexology practitioner in 1983 and instructor in 1985 (both in Canada, my country of birth). After moving to the United States I became licensed in the state of Florida to practice massage therapy, at the same time that I continued to teach reflexology at all levels.

I ran a successful practice in both reflexology and massage from 1989 until 2008, when I decided to devote all of my professional time to advancing the education levels with the field of reflexology. Part of this move included getting trained in the use of essential oils. I wanted to develop a line of organic essential oils products that reflexologists could use to address common conditions that we deal with.

There's a lot more I could say about my many years within the healing professions, but I won't!!

What she’s building

Academy of Ancient Reflexology

My primary business deals with advanced education for reflexologists and licensed massage therapists. The Academy is located in St. Augustine, Florida, where I live, teach and administrate my business. I also travel and teach in other locations in the United States, Canada and Costa Rica.

I also formulate yummyFEET and yummyHANDS,a small line of organic essential oil products, for people who perform manual therapies of the feet and hands. The products are designed to address both internal imbalances and issues of the feet and hands.

The best parts of learning here

What made the difference, in Karen’s words.

Karen was a reflexology educator decades before she trained here. Here is what stayed with her.

Room to reflect, learn, and play

A relaxed pace with time to sit with the material instead of racing through it.

I loved the relaxed environment in which the classes were held and having all the time to reflect, learn and play.

Learning that lasts years

The training still shapes her blends, from reflexology work to skincare and home cleaning.

Years later I still use the information I learned in formulating blends to support the work of reflexology, my personal skincare and home-cleaning products.
