Maria den Toom
Aromatherapy Certification Program graduate“I think of myself as kind of a late bloomer when it comes to learning and developing myself.”
How Maria became a late bloomer with a real credential.
I am 50 years old. I live in the Netherlands with my husband Robert, we got married in 1996. We own a vacation home in Drenthe (a very beautiful province in the Netherlands), where we spend a few days per month in an environment with heather, dolmens, and forest.
We like to go cycling and enjoy nature. When cycling it is nice to smell the spruces in the forest and get a big smile on my face, because I enjoy the fragrance and it reminds me of the essential oil. I always say to my husband: do you smell it? I like to read books, do some crocheting, and journal. I also lead a Bible Journaling Club for kids and teenagers at my home and I enjoy it very much.
Thirteen years ago I wanted to take a one-year sabbatical from work, but got into voluntary work and didn't stop. Working at the Christian bookstore is one of my voluntary jobs, and I love the fact that all of my colleagues are volunteers, all from different churches, and getting along with each other.
I am proud to have completed the course, I kind of surprised myself.
I want to start my own practice and help people with mind-management on a Biblical foundation, to help them stop with toxic thinking that makes them sick. I want to use essential oils in my practice, because I think this can be very supportive. I wrote my paper on this topic.
I am also planning to take a breathing course, which will also be helpful to use with my clients. In the future, It would be nice to give group lessons for meditation and Tikva, in combination with essential oils of course. I still have a lot to learn for this to become a reality, but I am looking forward to it.
I loved the honesty, the help, the love, and the support from the Aromahead team. Always friendly and personal. The lessons are very well written, and understandable for students when English is not their native language. It is very doable. I really enjoyed the anatomy & physiology course, there was some humor in it...I loved it.
