Nancy Crowell
Aromatherapy Certification Program graduate“I get excited by the possibilities - seems almost magical yet scientific.”
How a nursing career led Nancy here.
I am a registered nurse and have practiced the majority of my career in the specialty of vascular surgery. Throughout my career, I discovered my passion for Integrative therapies, which led to further certification in Holistic nursing.
Perhaps my most memorable experience surrounds the development of education for patients, staff, and community with a focus on Discovering your inner healing resources through Qigong, Aromatherapy, and Music. This proved to be a successful endeavor which later led to the development of Stress management implementing Integrative Therapies as a part of our Cardiovascular Prevention program.
I love nature and all the healing it has to offer; I am grateful to have this appreciation and look forward to expanding my knowledge and expertise with Aromatherapy.
I am blessed with an amazing husband, 2 grown children, and 1 brand new grandson. I can't even begin to count the number of sports injuries that I treated with Aromatherapy throughout my kids' childhood experiences. I also thoroughly enjoy creating inhalers for family and friends - they make the perfect gift and are always so well-received!
I am drawn to the powerful impact Integrative Therapies play in the management of chronic conditions. Specifically, the role Aromatherapy can play in restoring homeostasis/balance is of particular interest to me; disease is essentially, dis-ease and there are countless opportunities to work with Aromatherapy, Qigong, and Music to treat imbalances. Curing and healing are different - we do not always experience curing but we can always experience healing which takes place in multiple realms.
I find that throughout my life I have always been drawn to the spiritual components of healing - purpose, presence, what makes us want to wake up in the morning? I find such great joy in teaching classes that help folks discover their inner healing resources and I hope to expand on this further. I do not have a specific plan to start a business but more likely will embark on community education programs to carry out my vision.
Another area I want to develop is the use of Aromatherapy in conjunction with Aloe Vera. I have over 30 beautiful Aloe plants and would like to gain confidence in working with preservatives so I can make more than mini blends for self use; I see great potential to do something more and hope to explore this further.
With my vascular experience, I know there is great potential for wound care treatments involving essential oils and Aloe - with this comes more clinical research and investigation into legalities but would make for a very interesting project.
What I love most about my learning at Aromahead is gaining confidence in my blending skill. I loved the different approaches that were so well described and encouraged - I really appreciate understanding when/how to apply these different techniques while I'm creating blends for a specific purpose.

What made the difference, in Nancy’s words.
Nancy brought a nurse's eye for rigor to the coursework. Here is what stood out, in her own words.
Confidence at the blending bench
The program teaches several blending approaches, and when to reach for each one.

Designed like a real curriculum
A nurse-educator's verdict on how the coursework is put together.
I loved how the program was designed - very comprehensive, well-organized, and filled with opportunities to test my knowledge. Every component provided a solid learning experience from lesson content, case reviews, research, and A&P - this truly was a dynamic learning experience!
Self-paced when life happens
The program waits for you, even when your plans change completely.
I also greatly appreciate the self-paced opportunity which turned out to be a lifesaver for me, having experienced unforeseen events that dramatically impacted my original plan.
