Lori "Lolo" O'Keefe
Aromatherapy Certification Program graduate“I am a lifelong learner and look forward to learning more about essential oils!”
How Lolo found her way to the oils.
Mindful eating, exercise, and wellness are a huge part of my daily rhythm. I enjoy sharing successes and discoveries with family and friends and collaborating with like-minded people who enjoy practicing or learning about maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Becoming an Aromatherapist and learning about how Essential Oils can support and provide balance to a person's life has complimented and enhanced my lifestyle.
After graduating from college and starting a biodiesel manufacturing business with my husband, I became further intrigued about how plants and oils can fuel the body and, at the same time, provide an alternative fuel source with a positive environmental impact. My plant and herbal medicine knowledge has been self-taught or enhanced by working with alternative medicine practitioners. My entire family has experienced the benefits of these treatments for ailments or maintaining homeostasis.
When my second son was born, I stopped working in our office to care for my newborn and care for my mother, who was undergoing chemo for an aggressive brain tumor. Shortly after she passed, I became the primary caretaker of my father, who survived multiple strokes and was diagnosed with dementia. That is when a friend introduced me to essential oils and how to work with them to support me through a very stressful time.
As I experienced incredible benefits for myself and then saw how much the oils helped relieve my father's neuropathy and soften the side effects of dementia, I joined Aromahead's program. From this program alone, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and feel more confident working with myself, my family, and my friends.
It feels incredible to be certified, but I also feel as though my journey has just begun. I am concurrently enrolled in the Aromahead Teacher Training Program and taking classes with the Tisserand Institute. I aim to officially start practicing Aromatherapy in the coming year and hosting classes to share what I have learned with others in my community.
Another goal is to educate caretakers in their supportive role when caring for clients with dementia about the many benefits of essential oils. I am equally interested in learning more about essential oils and skincare benefits. Blessings and cheers to essential health!
loveZoils
loveZoils are personalized small-batch essential oil products created to support relaxation, soften the effects of medications/diseases, and promote healthy skin. My focus has been on blending oils for friends and family, and I would like to expand my practice into care homes to help older adults and educate their caretakers on the benefits of working with essential oils.
After a brief consult with me to understand what type of essential oil support you are looking for, I would be thrilled to work with you to formulate personalized blends. In good health, Lolo
What made the difference, in Lolo’s words.
Lolo studied while caring for her family and building blends for the people around her. Here is what stood out, in her own words.
Fits a full life
The whole program worked around the schedule of a busy mom and family caretaker.
The flexibility to take the course online made it easily accessible. Learning the material around my schedule was a HUGE plus as I am a busy mom and caretaker.
Science worth savoring
The anatomy and physiology material rewards the part of you that wants to know why.
The science nerd in me especially enjoyed the Anatomy & Physiology overview.
Resources that keep giving
The forum and blog stayed useful long after graduation, for recipes, questions, and research.
The forum and blog were extremely resourceful during the program, and I continue to use them for recipes, questions, and additional knowledge when researching an ailment.
