Aromatherapy for Daily Life

Yasmine’s story

How Yasmine turned a career change into a calling.

I am a certified aromatherapist with a passion for holistic wellness and natural essential oils and botanical products. I grew up in Egypt where the traditional markets were always full of exotic and comforting aromas. I have always been drawn to anything that smells good.

I have since lived in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia and traveled all over Europe and North and Central America. Throughout all my travels I was always drawn to the common thread of basic respect for nature and traditional remedies which are rooted in so much indigenous history. Even when the reason is not fully known, there is always a passed-down recipe for an ailment that someone knows and swears by. The same thing happens over and over again in every part of the world using different natural ingredients. Nature and tradition based on indigenous knowledge backed up with scientific research have always been an inspiration when creating my own formulas and products.

My career background is in visual effects for film, which combines artistic and visual talents and technical computer skills. I loved my job and enjoyed doing it for almost 20 years, until the stress levels became quite high and the joy of my job was no longer there. After a brief time off, I decided a career change is what I wanted, and following my passion for aromatherapy and natural products, I decided to delve into the world of aromatherapy with a strong emphasis on the scientific and researched aspects of its components. My education will be continuous throughout my newly chosen career and my previous job and travels will give me a good grounding in what others go through on a daily basis and how I can help them once they choose to adjust their approach to daily life.

Since graduating from Aromahead, I became the UK representative for the AIA (Alliance for International Aromatherapists) and sit on the board of the IFPA (The International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists), and helped to organise their annual conference in 2023. I published several articles in industry magazines about my passion for Egyptian Blue Lotus as well as the blend of traditional and modern approaches for holistic health.

What she’s building

Yatlina

I founded Yatlina, an award-winning company in 2020, and continue to serve clients with natural botanical products and aromatherapy blends using portable, easy-to-use devices like reusable personal inhalers and Aroma Patches. I offer bespoke blends and product formulation for individuals and businesses.

I also recently (2024) started guided tours of my local Victorian park in London where I take the participants on a “Scent Stroll” blending aromatherapy knowledge with traditional uses of conifer trees and other plants in the area.

My love of scent is morphing into workshops where scent and other forms of art are combined for the pleasure and enjoyment of it as well as the emotional and physical well-being. This will come out as a series of workshops planned for the next year and beyond.

Once I decided I wanted to change my career and focus on aromatherapy, the choice of where to study was quite daunting. There are a lot of options out there and a lot of different approaches to my chosen subject. I found Aromahead to be a great balance of science and energetics when studying the essential oils, there is also a very deep respect for the whole industry and what is involved in producing products that are used.

The best parts of learning here

What made the difference, in Yasmine’s words.

Yasmine compared many schools before choosing this one. Here is what that choice made possible.

Science and energetics, balanced

The coursework balances research with energetics, and holds deep respect for how oils are actually produced.

I found Aromahead to be a great balance of science and energetics when studying the essential oils, there is also a very deep respect for the whole industry and what is involved in producing products that are used.

Intuition, backed by research

You keep the emotional response that drew you to the oils and learn the science that supports it.

knowing I can now back up my intuitive choices with scientific research and studies has given me a whole new level of understanding and respect to this new world I am delving into and hoping to share with others.
