Make Your Own Cedar and Spice Foam Soap
How to Make Foam Soap with Spicy, Evergreen, "Holiday"Essential Oils
Some people make special casseroles this time of year, or pies, or ciders and drinks that they save for special occasions.
I like to make special DIY aromatherapy recipes!
In this post, I'm going to share how to make DIY cedar and spice foam soap with holiday essential oils.
What do I mean by "holiday essential oils?"
It's true—you can create a festive atmosphere with a lot of different essential oils. But some scents are more associated with the season than others.
Such as...
... Douglas Fir essential oil (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
... Cedarwood essential oil (Juniperus virginiana)
... Pinon Pine essential oil (Pinus edulis)
... Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)
... Peppermint essential oil (Mentha x piperita)
... Cardamom essential oil (Elettaria cardamomum)
... Clove Bud essential oil (Syzygium aromaticum/Eugenia caryophyllata)
Not only do these essential oils have beautiful, seasonal aromas—they also support our health. They're great for lowering the presence of germs, while raising immunity. A few great ways to use them are natural cleaning blends, air-purifying diffuser blends, and foam soap recipes... like this one!
The aroma of this DIY foam soap might give you the feeling of sipping warm cider with friends around a campfire in the woods!
Hand Soap Recipe
Cedar and Spice Foam Soap
A holiday-inspired foaming hand soap that will also support your health!Ingredients
240 ml Castile soap
Equipment
One 250 ml Foamer Bottle
Directions
Pour the Castile soap into the foamer bottle.
Add the essential oils and tighten the cap.
Gently shake the bottle to combine.
Make your DIY Cedar and Spice Foam Soap in a 250 ml foam soap bottle.
There is only 240 ml of Castile soap in this foam soap recipe. That's because the top of the bottle (which creates the luxurious foam!) takes up some space.

Let's talk about the cedar and spice essential oils in this foam soap.
Cedarwood has a soft, woody, earthy aroma that pairs beautifully with warm, spicy Cardamom. Adding just 4 drops of Douglas Fir essential oil gives the entire blend a hint of that "Christmas tree" scent that's a favorite for so many people.
These three oils also boost the germ-reducing effects of your foam soap, while strengthening immunity, and even boosting respiratory health. (Take a few whiffs of these three oils the next time you start sniffling. They can clear the head quickly!)
If you love this foam soap recipe, you can make a smaller amount to take with you on the go! Our friends at Aromatics carry a 50ml foamer bottle that's perfect for traveling, or to give as a gift.
This 50 ml foam soap is a great travel size. You can carry it with you to use instead of the harsh soaps in public restrooms or to wash your hands when you're out and about. (For example, carry a bottle of water with you, and wash your hands in the parking lot after going into the grocery store!)
40 ml Castile soap
7 drops Cedarwood essential oil (Juniperus virginiana)
4 drops Cardamom essential oil (Elettaria cardamomum)
4 drops Douglas Fir essential oil (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
Before I end this post, I have to tell you... while I've given you "accurate" measurements for these DIY recipes, I don't usually measure my ingredients when I make foam soap.
Estimating works well, once you know how full your bottle should be. You don't have to be precise when you make foam soap, since it's not a therapeutic blend that will be directly inhaled, or will linger on your skin for a long time. You have the freedom to get creative—try adding a touch of aloe vera gel or Peppermint hydrosol!
The first few times you make foam soap, following a recipe can help you get the hang of it.
The next time, you can adapt the DIY recipe to see what your hands like.
