Aromatherapy Inhalers for Sleep, Sinus Infection, Anxiety

Three inhaler recipes I make again and again
Aromatherapy inhalers are easy to make, inexpensive, and simple to carry around. I make three of them over and over. One for sleep, one to help ease a sinus infection, one for anxious moments. Having them on hand gives me a feeling of support when life gets stressful.
Sleep inhaler
Use this one before bed. Leave it on your nightstand so you can reach for it again if you wake in the night.
5 drops Lavender Oil (Lavandula angustifolia)
5 drops Cedarwood Oil (Juniperus virginiana)
5 drops Balsam Copaiba Oil (Copaifera officinalis)
Cedarwood is a base note, warm and woody. Base notes help you get to sleep and stay asleep. If you like this blend at bedtime, try the Less Stress, More Rest sleep blend, a body oil with the same lavender and cedarwood. The essential oils for sleep field guide covers which oils to reach for first at night, the research behind them, and safety.
Sinus infection relief inhaler
Use this inhaler several times a day to help ease a sinus infection.
6 drops Oil Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis)
4 drops Oil Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
5 drops Oil Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ct. 1,8 cineole)
Anxiety inhaler
Reach for this one when you feel anxious. Inhale a few times, slowly, and let the aroma calm you.
7 drops Yuzu (Citrus junos)
1 drop Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata var. genuina)
7 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
Pick a color for each one
Inhalers come in many colors. I like to match the color to the blend's purpose. Blue or purple suits sleep or anxiety. A bright, opening color like yellow fits the sinus blend. You can find blank inhalers online. I buy mine from Aromatics International's blank inhalers.
Common questions
How many drops go in an inhaler?
About 15 drops for an adult and 6 for a child, dropped onto the cotton wick.
How long does an inhaler last?
Toss the wick when the aroma fades, or after about two months, whichever comes first.
Can I use the sleep inhaler more than once a night?
Yes. Keep it on the nightstand and use it again if you wake up. Nobody smells the oils but you, so it is fine to use around others.

If anxious moments come often, the Natural Anxiety Relief with Essential Oils course teaches three chemical components that calm the nervous system, ease anxiety, and relieve pain. A calm, practical way to go deeper.
