Love Orange essential oil?

Here are 4 ways to use Orange essential oil that take less than 2 minutes!

Orange essential oil is incredibly popular, which comes as no surprise!

Its bright, sunny aroma smells just like freshly peeled fruit. And there are so many ways to use Orange essential oil that it's one of my "must haves, "even for very small oil collections.

A few ways I love to use Orange essential oil are for digestion, pain relief, swelling, stomach cramps, nausea, easing depression and encouraging feelings of optimism, natural cleaning, and even for children's blends.

Here are 4 ways to use Orange essential oil that bring its sunny personality into your life.

And each recipe takes less than 2 minutes to make!

Ways to Use Orange Essential Oil #1: Natural Pain Relief

Orange essential oil is wonderful for pain relief because it's able to calm inflammation.

It also has a nice cooling touch that makes it a perfect companion for Peppermint essential oil—another brilliant choice for natural pain relief (thanks in part to the high presence of menthol in the oil).

In this recipe, I'm blending Orange and Peppermint into a base of Trauma Oil.

Trauma Oil is a carrier oil (such as olive oil) that's been infused with 3 therapeutic herbs—arnica, St. John's wort, and calendula. You can even use Trauma Oil for pain relief all by itself.

But let's add the essential oils for even more natural support!

Orange & Peppermint's Pain Relief Blend

  • 1 fl oz (30 ml) Trauma Oil

  • 12 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)

  • 6 drops Peppermint essential oil (Mentha x piperita)

Make this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle. Combine the Trauma Oil and essential oils, and shake gently.

Use it to massage areas that feel tight, tense, cramped, or just sore and achy! It's even great as a headache oil.

Ways to Use Orange Essential Oil #2: Reduce Swelling

This recipe is called Move It, Move It! Because it helps disperse swelling and encourage circulation.

I'm going to use Orange essential oil along with Rosemary ct. camphor here, because that's another oil that is excellent when it comes to bringing circulation to a specific area.

Try this blend on swollen hands or feet on a hot day!

Move It, Move It!

  • 1 oz (30 ml) Aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis)

  • 8 drops Rosemary essential oil (Rosmarinus officinalis camphor)

  • 10 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)

  • 3 ml Solubol (optional)

Make your blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle. Combine the aloe, essential oils, and Solubol, and shake gently.

Solubol is a dispersant that helps the essential oils stay distributed through the aloe vera. (You should still give this blend a gentle shake before each use.)

I also suggest making a fresh bottle every few weeks, since it's not made with a preservative.

Ways to Use Orange Essential Oil #3: Feeling Uplifted

This recipe is for an Aromatherapy inhaler—which I LOVE because you can take an inhaler with you anywhere. It is about the size and shape of a lip balm tube, so you can carry it with you in a bag or in your pocket. Just use it to take a few deep breaths any time you want a boost of optimism.

I'm going to use Orange essential oil with two other oils that also come from citrus trees.

The first is Bergamot. Not everyone is familiar with Bergamot because it's a citrus that we don't eat. The fruit is too bitter.

Like the other citruses though, Bergamot essential oil is amazing for inspiring feelings of optimism and well-being.

The other oil in this inhaler is Neroli.

Neroli is a floral essential oil, but it also comes from a citrus tree—the flowers of the Bitter Orange tree are distilled to give us this gorgeous oil that is a popular ingredient in natural perfumes.

Neroli is one of my favorite essential oils for uplifting low spirits and soothing a troubled heart.

Feeling Uplifted!

  • 8 drops Bergamot essential oil (Citrus bergamia)

  • 5 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)

  • 2 drops Neroli essential oil (Citrus aurantium amara)

Making an Aromatherapy inhaler is simple!

All you have to do is put the cotton insert into the inhaler's plastic "sleeve."Then drop the essential oils right onto the cotton. The last step is snapping the cap into place, so the cotton doesn't slide out. The whole thing closes up with a lid. You're done!

Your inhaler will last 2 months before you should make a new one.

Ways to Use Orange Essential Oil #4: Digestion, Cramps, Nausea

Now we come to one of my very favorite ways to use Orange essential oil . . . to support digestion!

Orange is helpful for many kinds of stomach discomfort. It's good for cramps and nausea, or times when you've just eaten too much and feel a little uncomfortable.

This recipe is made in a base of unscented natural lotion. (You can use any natural lotion you like!)

Blissfully Relaxed Belly

  • 1 oz (28 g) unscented natural cream or lotion

  • 5 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil (Chamaemelum nobile)

  • 5 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)

  • 5 drops Peppermint essential oil (Mentha x piperita)

Make this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass jar. Put the lotion into the jar, and then drop the essential oils right in. You'll have to stir gently for a short while with a glass stirring rod, but the oils will mix in.

Then use your blend on your belly, abdomen, and low back.

I suggest making a fresh jar of this every few weeks, because lotion is a water-based ingredient, and we're not using preservatives here.

There you have it! 4 ways to use Orange essential oil that you can make in 2 minutes or less.

And each of these recipes is formulated based on essential oil research.
